Bagdad Middle School Jr. FCCLA was honorable mention for their Lead2Feed submission where they collected plastic bags and created plarn sleeping mats for homeless veterans. This project was a very rewarding experience for those involved and also helped find another use for the amounts of plastic store bags that end up in landfills. We were able to donate basic necessities to homeless veterans as well as $1,000 from Lead2Feed!
This project allowed us to involve the entire Bagdad Community! We utilized bag collection bins throughout campus as well as inside the local Basha's Grocery Store so community members could properly recycle their store bags and allow us to collect them to make plarn for the sleeping mats. We ended up having a "Bag Mountain" in our adviser's classroom!
