Student Storm Trackers

"This week our first graders read a story about storms.

They became “meteorologists” and continued practicing their number sense through learning to read thermometers. They culminated the unit with a rain cloud and a tornado experiment.

As you can see, the students were very engaged as they watched their clouds in a cup produce rain and their tornado in a bottle pick up debris as the tornado took form. Great job first graders!

Thank you Ms. Butler, Mrs. Bullington, and Mrs. Gist for providing such an engaging unit for our students. It was a pleasure watching their eyes light up and beam with pride as they explained what they were learning to me."

Meet our New Elementary Principal, Mr. Tinghitella

My name is Mike Tinghitella and I am very excited about serving as the new Bagdad Elementary School Principal. I began my first seven years at a rural K-8 school in a small town. I was a math specialist and four-sport coach. I learned quickly that students learn in different ways and that you need to find the most effective methods for each individual student. I also understand the importance of developing the entire child and cultivating their gifts and talents so they can shine in their unique ways. I have been in education for 28 years and am eager to use that experience to support our students, staff and families with a positive learning culture that ensures the success of every student.

I am very blessed to be happily married to my beautiful wife, Kimberly, for 28 years. She has taught Kindergarten for six years and 1st grade for one year. We have three sons, who have been active in sports (and two now coaching) and are continuing their education since their high school graduations. Our youngest is entering his senior year of high school. My wife and I are both career educators and are very grateful for the opportunity to join this wonderful school and become part of the beautiful Bagdad community.
